Asymmetrical ingroup bias describes how people tend to be bias and act in ways that promotes their own (Pratto, Sidanius, & Levin, 2006). However, the asymmetry comes from members of dominants groups being more bias and display for favoritism than a member from a subordinate group. A relationship is asymmetric when partners do not reciprocate the intensity of passion, intimacy or commitment between each other. In monogamous relationships, the ideal is for both partners to be equally in love with each other, or at least to act that way. In some relationships, one partner is substantially more committed than the other. We call these Asymmetrically Committed Relationships (ACRs). Relationship scholars have long been fascinated by the implications of ACRs, though only a handful of studies examine these the characteristics of these relationships.
